Management of Capital Projects and More
The goals of the Capital Management Department at UI Hospitals and Clinics are to:
- Create patient and family-centered healing environments
- Promote design that facilitates the delivery of care and enhances teaching and research
- Optimize the use of real property and capital resources
- Protect patients, visitors and staff
The department provides these services:
- Preparing capital construction project budget estimates
- Supporting capital budgeting process through evaluation of requests and recommendation of most viable projects
- Managing the planning, design, construction and commissioning of all capital construction projects at UI Hospitals and Clinics ranging from minor to major
new building project improvements
- Overseeing interior design standards
- Interior design consultation/space planning
- Preparing statement of conditions and monitoring plans for improvements
- Reviewing and analyzing building codes
- Maintaining building standards
- Engaging architects and engineers for project related studies and design/supervision functions
- Maintaining applicable JCAHO accreditation standards
