Road Construction Closes portions of Coralville's First Avenue

A road construction project will close First Avenue in Coralville for six days beginning July 28.

Staff, patients, families, and visitors should avoid using exit 242 from I-80 to access UI Hospitals and Clinics. Instead, use alternate routes, including:

• From I-80, take exit 240 (Coral Ridge Avenue) to Highway 6 to Hawkins Drive. There may be delays due to construction on parts of Highway 6.
• From I-80, take exit 244 (Dubuque Street) to Park Road, which turns into Rocky Shore Drive. At the four-way stop light go straight to Hawkins Drive.
• Take 1-80 to 218 South to exit 93 (Melrose Avenue), turn left on to Melrose Avenue. Follow it through University Heights and turn left at Hawkins Drive.
• From north Coralville, take 12th Avenue to Highway 6. Heavier traffic on 12th Avenue is anticipated, so drivers should avoid it at peak times if possible.

Patients with appointments for the week of July 28 will receive phone calls alerting them to the situation.
